Antler handles make excellent working & walking sticks
Antlers handled sticks are very popular and are one of the easiest to make. A dowel is the best method of jointing the shank into the antler. Drill out the soft core of the antler with a suitably sized flat faced drill leaving the strong sides of the antler intact; cut a dowel onto the shank that fits neatly into the drilled hole. If it is difficult to match the antler and handle to give a smooth joint consider fitting a spacer between the antler and shank as shown on some of the attached photos. Timber or horn spacers and caps can be fitted to enhance the look of the handle.
